Nothing beats food cooked over an open fire; however, a fire can’t be turned up and down as easily as a modern oven. The practical, medieval solution to this was to use a trammel hook or kettle saw. This enables you to adjust the high of your pot or grill from the fire to get the perfect temperature for cooking your food.

This blacksmith forged kettle saw/trammel hook is 40 cm long and extends to a length of up to 62cm. A perfect addition to your medieval cooking gear for your next re-enactment or living history camping event and is based on depictions from period art.
